Mike is an Air Force veteran devoted to public service. Elected Mayor of Isle of Palms in 2001 and serving his second term as a state house representative, he has been a strong voice for coastal issues including growth management, conservation, tourism, and lower taxes.
Mike is credited with reforming the IOP infrastructure in the wake of booming tourism. He will use his leadership experience to help reform state government, facilitate more state assistance, and increase cooperation between local governments. He and his wife Loraine have one daughter, Amy.
Previously an avid hunter, Mayor Sottile now enjoys his Harley motorcycle, spending time poolside and being an amateur chef. He especially enjoys attending Atlanta Braves baseball Spring Training in Florida every year.
